Disappointing dinning experience in an otherwise stylish setting

Situated in one of Glasgow’s stylish districts, Glashu certainly makes a strong first impression. The interior is elegant and inviting, with clean, sharp lines and classic décor that creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were polite and attentive throughout our visit, which added a touch of professionalism to the experience.

Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the setting or reputation.
We began with an appetiser that was disappointingly presented in pastry cases that did not taste freshly made, they lacked the freshness and creativity one might expect from a place of this calibre. My husband’s scallops were well-cooked and flavourful one of the few highlights of the meal. I opted for the foie gras, which was bland and lacked the richness and depth I typically associate with that dish. In fact, it barely tasted like foie gras at all.

For my main course, I had been especially looking forward to the much talked about beef Wellington. Sadly, it was a major letdown. The meat was so tough it was nearly impossible to chew, clearly not aged or prepared with the care such a dish demands. While the carrots were delicious sweet and perfectly cooked the fries were heavily over-salted, overshadowing any potential enjoyment.

We dined on a Sunday evening, and the restaurant was surprisingly quiet, with only a few other diners present. Given the quality of the food, perhaps this wasn’t too surprising in hindsight.
